In High Level, we acknowledge that we are on Treaty 8 and Peace River territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Dene and Dane-zaa (Beaver), and Métis. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. We acknowledge the traditional lands upon which we live, work and play.
We recognize that all Albertans are Treaty People and have a responsibility to understand our history so that we can honour the past, be aware of the present and create a just and caring future. CDDH celebrates and values the resiliency, successes and teachings that Alberta’s Indigenous people have shown us since time immemorial.
There is much work to do to honour the TRC calls to action and CDDH remains committed to this work until Truth and Reconciliation is realized for all Indigenous peoples, families and especially children.
