Role Overview

The Childcare Consultant in Fort McMurray is responsible for supporting Family Dayhome Educators, children, and families by ensuring compliance with provincial standards and agency policies. Consultants act as monitors, mentors, and liaisons, promoting high-quality care and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

-Monitoring and supporting regulated government-approved dayhomes

-Reviewing and documenting the following:
1) Physical environment
2) Educator performance
3) Child development & well-being
4) Health, safety & emergency preparedness
5) Compliance & standards
6) Home environment
7) Documentation & follow-up
8) Extended & school-age care

-Assisting with family registrations and referrals

-Maintaining communication with families through phone calls, emails, newsletters, and StoryPark

-Assisting families with the dayhome registration

-Ensuring agency and government standards, policies and practices are met and maintained

-Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files for children and educators

-Facilitating, co-facilitating workshops when/as needed, working alongside the Pedagogy and Curriculum Consultant

-Coordinating back up care

Qualifications:

-Minimum Level 2 Early Childhood Educator Certification

-Valid first aid certification in childcare

-Criminal record check and intervention record check (dated within 6 months of hire, renewed every 3 years)

-Strong understanding of child development, health and safety, and Alberta childcare regulations and Family Dayhome Standards Manual

-Knowledge in Flight curriculum or willing to obtain training upon hiring

-Organizational  and time management skills

-Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with auto insurance of 2 million liability
